La description
Bring history to life with this stunning topiary Supermarine Spitfire. A breathtaking tribute to an icon, handcrafted in living plant for your garden.
Height: 200cm
The Supermarine Spitfire fighter aircraft was the only British fighter produced continuously throughout World War II.
The frame has been handwelded from steel wire and covered in ligustrum delavaynum (box-leaf privet)
The plants are woven onto the frame, so that the entire piece is covered in leaves.
All you have to do is clip it into shape throughout the growing season and keep it fed and watered!
An evergreen plant with oval green leaves. White flowers in early summer if not clipped.
Ligustrum delavayanum prefers full sun or partial shade and well-drained soil. Water regularly but sparingly during growing season. Water less during winter, only make sure the root ball does not dry out. Feed regularly during growing season with fertiliser. Feed more often during flowering. Prune into shape in late spring or summer.
