Large wildlife and horse topiary frames

Big handmade frames of horses, deer, elephants, lions, giraffes and more, for lawns, driveways and large gardens.

These are our biggest frames. They take longer to fill than a cat or a rabbit, but a deer grazing on the lawn or a horse by the gate is hard to walk past without a second look.

What's in the range

We make standing and prancing horses, a donkey, deer (including a grazing doe), a fox, a wolf's head, bears, a lion, a giraffe and an elephant. For beside a pond, there's a dolphin, a turtle, a koi carp and even a Loch Ness monster. And if you want something a little less imposing, there's a tortoise, a snail and a frog.

Planting a large frame

A large frame usually needs more than one plant to cover it. Plant several young evergreens around the base, and train the shoots up and through the wire as they grow. Small-leaved ivy covers a big shape fastest, while box, Ilex crenata and privet give a denser, more traditional finish. Expect it to take a few years, with regular clipping in summer, before the frame is fully covered.

Ready grown or made to order

If you want the finished look straight away, several of these animals are also sold as ready made topiary, fully covered in plant, including the prancing horse, the roe deer and the ponies. Frames are made to order. For a size or an animal you can't see here, get in touch and ask about a commission.
