Description
The Leyland Cypress is a large, very fast-growing evergreen tree. Its ability to grow quickly has made it very popular to use as a hedging and screening plant to ensure privacy and absorb sound. Its one of the most commonly planted trees in Britain. Leylandii can grow at over 90cm (3ft) a year.
The Leyland cypress has small dark green scale leaves in flat sprays. The 'Castlewellan Gold' variety has flat sprays tinged with golden-yellow foliage. The density of the foliage makes the species ideal for hedging and screening but also for certain forms of topiary.
