'Golden King' is a small bushy evergreen tree with broad ovate, slightly spiny leaves margined with bright yellow. The glossy leaves of this holly have grey-green mottled centres and bright, golden-yellow margins.
Despite its name, this compact, conical, evergreen shrub is a 'female' variety of holly which produces reddish-brown autumn berries that ripen to red.
Ilex can be deciduous or evergreen shrubs and trees with often spiny leaves, small white flowers (male and female usually on separate plants) and, on female plants, showy berries in autumn.
Hardiness: fully hardy.
